Target has pledged $120,000 in cash to promote the legalization of homosexual marriage.

archer-and-anders:

Just saw this in an email from one of my professors who is an adviser for the Lesbian and Gay Vet Med Association at school. Target’s website says it will donate 100% of T-shirt sales from customers during the month of June to Family Equality Council.

See the t-shirts here.

The big thing about it though is that this has been going around anti-gay organizations, and they’re rallying people to complain to the higher-ups at Target and even boycott their store, just like what happened with the Girl Scouts when they allowed a trans* girl join.

So we need to try to support Target in this if we can. If you can’t go buy a shirt, you can email them at press@target.com to show your support. It will only take a few minutes, and it’s for a cause that I think is really near and dear to a lot of us here. Signal boost please? I can’t reach enough people with this on my own.

Some of ya’ll need to make these tour shirts.

Sometimes I start feeling really anxious because of my decision not to march this summer.

DCI tip:

thatdrumcorpsguy:

You only need like 4 rehearsal shirts.

I know people who buy really cheap shirts(thrift shop, basic white t’s/tanks) and actually throw them out at the end of the summer. That way you don’t lose shirts you like and you have extra space/less weight in your luggage for the return home.

I introduced a kid to DCI like three years ago and now she’s going to march. So proud. <3

I hate saying this and I feel like a bit douchey saying this…

thatdrumcorpsguy:

bentecost:

but I already hate lowering my standards to fit the ability of high school band. And, I know, I can’t expect everyone to rehearse or perform at the level I do with the corps, but now that I’ve gotten into the drum corps work ethic and the high standards of performance/rehearsal, I feel like I’m not doing anything at practices at school…

I don’t like just playing through a piece and listening to instruction then just doing it all again and again until we fix one thing and then move on to the next piece.

And again, I know I can’t have the same expectations as I do in Toledo, but it’s really bugging me now and I know I shouldn’t be judging, it’s really chewing at me though…I need to figure out or learn to get past it and just help everyone out instead.

I don’t know, I feel really bad about it…this happens to other drum corps people, right?

Welcome to the post drum corps feeling. Just stop caring. That’s what everyone else does. Or you can be radical and try to get everyone to your level. The first one’s obviously easier though.

Most common sentiment. I’ve known people who marched since they were 14 and they went through high school just learning not to care/realizing you can’t do anything about it. And actually, college marching band doesn’t make things better usually and you have to continue to be okay with a little less discipline.

I stand by my opinion that the tans are funny, not attractive, and that the majority of drum corps kids end up looking like skeletons, not those oddly attractive pictures that mostly circulate around the internet.
